One of the other russian tactics during ww2, was to not allow people to evacuate stalingrad when the germans came, so the russian army had something to fight for. another brutal tactic they used was when the poorly trained russian army when into battle against impossible odds they were’nt allowed to retreat and if they did there were officers waiting with machine guns to shot any cowards.
