Noob xBox 360 question, sorry for that...?

Postby shenbo » Mon Jul 27, 2009 9:34 am

I just recently purchased xBox live for the first time. I have a gold membership (not that it matters, lol). I noticed that a lot of people put clips of them playing Madden, Halo 1,2,3 and Call of Duty 4 etc. on YouTube and I was hoping that, when I actually do something worthwhile, I can put some clips up too.

The thing is...how the HECK do you record this? Someone told me Fraps.com, but isn't that only for PC games or PC versions of games like Halo, etc.? I am not sure, so I was just wondering.

So can somebody help me out with this?

Is it even possible to record it from my xBox 360?

A weirdo at Best Buy said to use a webcam and set it up facing the screen, but I was all yeah right cuz I don't want my voice & back ground noise on there; I just want the in-game video and audio.

Anyways, got any ideas? Please post here.

The way i would go is to plug the xbox into a dvd recorder (or video) then recorder into your tv ..press record and play xbox. Then take disc and record on to PC then post.
Never tried it but should work.
Have fun.

You have to have a computer or something near your xbox that has a video capture card. They cost around 100 bucks to get good quality and audio, also some sort of video editor if you want to make montages or something.

You need to get whats called a capture card. its a device that records in game audio and video. i personally have not made any videos but ive heard some people talk about them on xbox live.

Yeah a capture card would work best, i did hear of a website that you could sign up to for free which would record your game play, don't really get how it works but here it is, www.gamevee.com not sure if its still up or not but hey worth a try. and as others have said a dvd recorder is another option, its not as good quality as a capture card, but it works. I have a dvd recorder set up with a scart adapter in so i have my freeview xbox 360 and wii in there at once and my PS2 but i only use that occasionly. It works quite well and if its more affordable its easy to set-up.
