Is this a good custom gaming PC?

Postby XCxyb789 » Sun Jul 26, 2009 7:44 am

I'm getting ready to build my first custom gaming pc and I'm not so sure if this stuff I have put together will all work together and whatnot, what parts aren't necessary, if it's a good deal, or if I have managed to put together something awesome that will be perfect. I've done a lot of research but it's still confusing. I don't have any gaming pc savvy friends so I'm asking here.
Thanks in advance!!

Everything together is $1400 with a $40 mail in rebate.

Looks great!

Except, you have deal with the fact that you won't be able to utilize 2 - 2.75 GB of your RAM, since 32-bit operating systems, i.e. your XP Home edition, can only support up to 3.25 - 4 GB of RAM.
If you want to utilize the whole 6 GB, you have to upgrade to a 64-bit operating system, such as XP Professional x64, or Vista 64-bit.
I wouldn't worry too much about it though - you really won't need 6 GB of RAM to begin with, even in gaming. Just stick with XP Home, as 64-bit OSs have compatibility issues with a lot of software.

Other than that, a great high-end system! you'll have little-to-no issues running Crysis or GTA IV at high/max settings.
