In Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion for Xbox360, my brother and friend have ran into a strange problem.

The three of us all have our own profiles and our own characters. I haven't bothered with the main gate yet, but the other two have taken the stone from it and shut it down.

Now, whenever they go back inside Kvatch to.. rescue survivors? (I'm not sure what it is, I wasn't paying close attention) they're promptly attacked by the guards after agreeing to go back in. I'm not sure if this is normal or if it's a glitch. The guards even continue to attack INSIDE the Oblivion Gate.

Both characters are Kajiit, my friend's character is advanced in the thieves guild, level 6, and was a vampire. My brother's character is level 16, in the thieves guild and Dark Brotherhood, and was never a vampire. My own character is Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, and a Dunmer, but I can't test if it's a racial glitch at the moment.

So, is it multple-profile glitch, or something that is supposed to happen?

If I had to guess, they accidentally attacked one of the guards when they were clearing the area by the gate (or while they were inside), the guards went back to their posts (as they're scripted to), and then when him talking to them freed them, they attacked him for it. I suggest yielding to the guards (block + use) and, if that fails, forgetting the gate for a while (yeah, I know lame).
