Question about Nintendo systems.?

Ok, So I am wondering If I should get an old gamecube or a DS. I don't care about what is new at all.. just what's more fun. I really only care about zelda games, pokemon games, and mario games. I like the DS because of the little writing thingy but it's more expensive and you can't play with a couple of friends at your house. The gamecube is fun for all the games it has that are a blast like smash brothers, all the zelda games, and mario kart. It's also cheaper. The gamecube doesn't really have all those fun pokemon games like diamond and pearl. The gamecube isn't coming with any new games which is a bad thing. But I won't be playing either all that often so it kind of doesn't matter with new games. What are your guys' opinions? Gamecube or Nintendo DS? Oh yeah. and I am getting the Gamecube for free so it's even less money. And don't say get both.

The Nintendo Wii is backwards compatible with the GameCube, so essentially if you own a Wii, you own a Gamecube. I'd go with the DSi myself, that way when you do decide to get a Wii, you'll be able to interface content and games from the Wii to the DSi.

More bang for your buck: go with the DSi. It has Pokemon, Mario, and Zelda AND is compatible with the Wii if you ever decide to get one.
