I'd suggest getting Mario & Luigi : Partners in time, great game will keep you going for quite a while. My second suggestion would be any of the pokemon games, but it all depends if you like that or not (Or it might be the time to try something new!)

Mario Kart DS is fun, but gets old.
If you like RPGs, you could buy Final Fantasy 3 or 4, or Final Fantasy Tactics, The World Ends With You, or Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days when it comes out.
And, of course, there's always the Pokemon games. Plus, they're remaking Pokemon Silver and Gold for DS, so if you like either of those two they'rea definite buy.

Mario Kart is a good game, but now it's kind of old. Get the New Super Mario Bros., but did you know on the DSi, you can download games on there? So you can choose one of those down loadable games too. Pokemon Platinum is also good, or Cooking Mama. Also, there's a lot of good Mario games. One cool game is Mario & Sonic Olympic games.
