Now that it's summer, i recently began playing Halo 3 at a friends house (I have a wii... that's being repaired T.T)

I'm pretty bad, but not an idiot guys. And its not like it's the first FPS i've ever played. So any basic tips to help me survive?
like...
what guns (common guns) to use often, which not to use, and how to use them?
what to do when in gunfire
what to do when a guys coming around the corner
how to avoid gunfire
how to get close to someone (like with the energy sword during infection)
taht stuff

Use the BR and sniper rifle, well actually all rifles that you can get your hands on.
